Mobile Communications - Huawei Plans to Build Factory in India
June 14, 2005
Huawei plans to open a factory in India mainly for the production of mobile phones and 3G equipment. Also, Huawei plans to introduce its GSM and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile phones in the Indian market at the end of 2005, and establish a service center for its mobile phone users.

Huawei's investment in India already amounts to US$100 million, a large part of which is allocated to Huawei's R&D centre in Bangalore. This R&D centre currently has 800 employees, but Huawei has plans to increase this number to 2,000 before the end of 2005.
